I love that you wrote such a personal post. I love that you called them out by name. Truly amazing people, every single one of them! I told someone recently that part of lasting leadership is the legacy we leave behind - and you, Tim, have also left your own legacy in the hearts and minds that have come after you. For all of the greatness that you’ve penned about these amazing leaders, you have left your own mark on those of us that have had the pleasure of being led and mentored by another one of the greats - Dr. Timothy Chester! This made my week and reminded me why we do what we do!
My former Boss at my previous institution was this. A lot of times when I'm in situations I often think of what he would do, or what his guidance would be, and it actually gave me the desire to be better and to help others too. My current Boss has different strengths and I'm happy to say that I enjoy her mentorship as well. Organic mentorship is so so so needed. That's not to diminish the formulated mentorships, but having the in action training really helps, in my opinion, more than a structured simulation or training. All that said, completely agree with this post.
I am still in Nashville working as an MFT professor at Lipscomb and back in school at Vanderbilt for an MTS. We have an almost two-year-old now, so she's keeping us busy. If y'all are ever in Nashville, please let me know. Please tell Gail I said hello!
